A Bullet for Buñuel: Fragments of a failed bullet

Performance and screening

LA ART BOOK FAIR 2015
The Classroom
The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA, LA
Organized by David Senior.

30th January, 4pm – 5pm

A performative lecture drawing from activities between 2012 and 2013, which involved trying to invoke an effigy of the filmmaker Luis Buñuel using a reduced velocity lead-tipped bullet. A narrative unfolds via an archive of documents, photographs, correspondence, and ballistics testing data – recounting the attempt to commission the precise replica of a shirt worn by Buñuel (down to the creases); while seeking to persuade a ballistics lab who test for the U.S. military and the Secret Service, to create failed bullets on my behalf. Includes the first public screening of the video work, A Bullet for Buñuel: Failed Drawing.
